PROJECTS for which we need your support:

  • Guitar Festival

The ultimate guitar experience for guitar players and enthusiasts, with 200 guitarists and 12 stages. From solo to orchestral performances, covering classical music, jazz, world music, and singer-songwriters, both professionals and amateurs. The place to enjoy and be inspired by the sounds of this incredibly versatile instrument. The place to be for guitar lovers.

  • Guitar Canon, 50 masterpieces for classical solo guitar

Gitaarsalon and Brava developed The Guitar Canon to start a debate to highlight the classical repertoire for solo guitar for both active and passive lovers of the instrument.

The current version is just a prototype to kick off this project; a dynamic top 50 of the repertoire written for solo guitar in classical music. The Guitar Canon will derive its diversity from the input of professional guitarists, amateur guitarists, and passive lovers. Based on an active international discussion, each year one piece and/or performer in the canon will be replaced by a talented newcomer.

In addition to stimulating an active discussion, another aim of the Guitar Canon is to improve the connection between, and respect for, performer and audience. Do they use the same criteria or do they value different aspects of performance entirely? The Guitar Canon aims to create a brotherhood in which this synergy will prove to be of added value to the guitar comminity at large.

Through the discussion, in real life and especially on Facebook, we strive for a leading role for The Guitar Canon, as a reference point that can be used in the planning and organizaing of concerts, competitions and workshops.

By stimulating the communication on Facebook it will become much easier to exchange new footage and promote newcomers.

Guitar festivals will also play an active role in our mission of organizing symposiums and master classes inspired by the Guitar Canon.

Yes, I want to support De GitaarSalon!
